Morning fog and so begins Fall...

Image
Fog to the east fog to the west It is apple picking season in a lot of the country. Not my yard in particular but, somewhere the apples are getting ready. I woke up a bit early but laid in bed trying to sort the tasks of the day. I have an audit, the NP visits the facility today, I have paperwork to gather and many other tasks to add to my list. Now for the second time this morning one of my dogs has climbed the fence to freedom. I thought I was doing good with my plan, one dog at a time in the yard as they won't leave the yard without a buddy. The fence climber was first. Then I called her in, and all the dogs were inside the pen, until she got the notion to climb the fence. Fair enough, I let her run a bit more.  Once she was back in the house, I slipped the plastic cover into the doggie door entrance to eliminate the possibility of her leaving while the biggest dog got his turn. Feeling quite slick in my insight to keeping her secure I went about my task of changing out the la

It's Tuesday again...

Funny thing about Tuesdays, they show up each week, pretty reliable they are. For me they are also pretty busy. Monday was jam packed with to-dos, but I dare say Tuesday might be even busier this week. I have an audit to do, shoes to return to the mall, a meet up to exchange a baby holder for some cash, a kitchen to clean and the list goes on. my kind of clean desk at work We are short at work, nothing new. Every place has been short for a couple of years now. I think the pandemic money really brought out the laziness in this country. It was there all along, but instead of people showing up and do nothing they are now emboldened to stay home and do nothing. I do realize that not everyone is just being lazy there are those that cannot return to the workforce, however there are those that just won't. Sometimes we feel like management just won't schedule people, but the ones they do, don't show. I have found a place that isn't perfect, but it feels like a place I can enjo

Tuesday...

I have plans for today. It starts with letting DH drive to kiddos to school. Then I move on to getting the kitchen organized. There are a multitude of phone calls to make. Hopefully my day won't be tangled up in the phone cord. I also have decided based on events in our life that I will not be working as many days outside of the home. I like working but there is too much going on right now. Tuesday came and left, and nothing new was revealed in the process. I have continued with doing the shifts that I signed up for. I will finish this month, but no more will I work overnights, it is too hard to recover. Tonight, we are having tacos for dinner. Meal planning has gone out the window. Not even the kind where you just pick a "meat of the night" type are even going on. Every night I am just winging it because I cannot think. Is it the lack of sleep? Or all the things going on? Or maybe it is just the way things are for now. Dinner is almost done and so am I! The Bees, howeve

Dear Blog

This week has been full of surprises. Not all of them were welcome, but that is the fabric of life. When you get news that is not desired what can you do? Yes, that question is rhetorical. Many things are in the balance of the awaited information. Does life stand still and let you linger? Sadly, no it does not. Yet, how much can you do when you don't know what is next? I requested training at my new job for the shift they requested that I pick up for the month of September. I enjoyed the training, and the work is nonstop. That makes it hard to visit with SIL at any time during the shift. And because I had worked 7 hours the night before and had no nap before going to this shift, I was too tired afterward to spend time with her. Sadly, I was supposed to go put her to bed tonight and I did not get back from the adventure with the kids in time. Originally, we had planned for the whole family to travel to Pueblo to go see "Doc", one of the 7 dwarfs. Because my car acted up o

Wednesday... a day of rest?

Image
It is Wednesday, not exactly a day of rest, but I do not have any "outside of the house"" work scheduled today. This is not the same as "housework". There is always some of that to do! My granddaughter is trying to find something she can do to earn money and be creative at the same time. She is beckoning me to join her at the flea market this weekend to have a "garage sale" and rid ourselves of some of the excess around here. The work is in getting it all gathered to go to the flea market I offered up ideas of things to make to sell at a bazaar. However, there aren't many of those going on these days. She could try the farmer's markets that set up around town, they are generally super expensive. I took SIL one day and even she was sticker shocked. We bought her some cherries at 18 dollars for a pound. She got a half pound. King Soopers had them for $3.97 a pound that weekend.  First thing this morning is a need to bake brownies and drop two o

Another trip to "you know where" is needed

Today I put up the blinds that I purchased from IKEA. They were just simple, not paper, but not the fancy kind that I want blinds. They are a woven material and not meant to last very long. All I needed was something to block the afternoon sun coming through the sliding glass door wall and the window above it. These did the trick for now. It cooled it off on the west side of the house so well that I am going to go get a couple more for the rest of the west side of the house windows. The slider has the vertical blinds, but they fall constantly and break. There are currently 8 slats missing I do not intend to replace them. They aren't too bad, they block the hot sun Eventually, I will find a set of curtains or blinds that I like and go with that, for now these are good enough. Again, DH discussed moving from this little bit of heaven town. (No charge for the sarcasm) Sometimes it just rolls out of my mouth and onto the keyboard. To start with we have a ton of outside work to do. He

Labor Day Weekend

Image
The holiday is quickly rushing up on us. Originally, I had thought it would be nice to go somewhere, then I remembered we have too many furry and feathered friends to go without an animal sitter. Critters were supposed to go to the auction today. I had too many errands to catch them and load them up for DH to take. It will be two weeks before I have the opportunity to downsize again. Our neighbor called and asked if her half-sister could rent our camper to live in. I explained that it doesn't have heat for the wintertime. I referred her to my former workplace. They have nice apartments, and she would also have access to a lot of amenities that might benefit her. She should at least look into something like that where there are caregivers available for assistance. It is the middle of the holiday weekend, and I am reorganizing the pantry and cleaning out the refrigerator so I can call for repairs next week. We ended up staying home and I took my first trip to an IKEA store. That was
