another update

In an effort to rehome the chicks my granddaughter and I put the chicken wire to the rafters on the west side of the barn. We then started our task of framing the west half by our selves and hanging the solar lights inside the barn for a temporary solution to dim lighting. That was as far as we could get on Saturday. On Sunday the youngest had a track meet so she and I went to that together and left all the sick family home. After our adventure to the birthday celebration both the oldest and I came down with cold symptoms. She was much worse than me by Sunday evening. I thought that staying home from the run would be a good rest for her. When we got home I pushed DH to finish the framing and then my sister and I hung the chicken wire and moved straw bales around. She is in the green shirt closest to fence line. Race day! To say we were busy Sunday would be an understatement.   Five little chickens were taken out to the barn and placed with the ducks and turkeys. Obviously those bullies have never attended any diversity training! The turkeys immediately began pecking for the eyes. The ducks were snapping at their little bodies. So back to the brooder pen for them until the pens are finished. Don't let their calm appearance influence your opinion... they are a hostile bunch!

a Long time...

I haven't posted anything in a while for many reasons. None of which matter at this time. What does matter is that the baby comes 4 days a week and only 3 of the are filled with tears! That beats 4 of them! Also, it isn't all day anymore... for the most part it isn't.   I started this entry sometime last week and again more things have changed. My sister is here recovering from C ovid-19. She is staying in our camper trailer. Overall she seems to be doing well. It is much easier to check on her out there, ensure that she is getting food and drink, than having her in a hotel in California with no family around.  Part of me feels torn between visiting with her and cleaning my own home and caring for all the critters... human or not. Yesterday I was quite tired and actually went to bed very early. Sleep eluded me at first as all the undone tasks ran in circles through my mind, eventually I was able to doze off. When I woke up all the things that delayed sleep were still there.
