What IS next?

Image
There are many yard things to take care of. The to-do list is miles long. The challenge is to figure where to start. The new plan is to stay here and fight to have a guest house put on the property. Oh, my goodness short term memory is a problem, that is what started the whole "let's move" process. I have not completed anything today of major importance and now the well pump is not working. I have to climb down into the well house and figure out what is wrong. yes, the charred remains  it seems a bit iffy stepping on this was scary but this is where I must go Water is back on. Not sure what the problem was, because I never made it down the ladder. Force of habit took me to the sink to wash my hands and the water worked. Weird, but true. In the meantime, DH returned with the children in tow, and I fixed dinner. Slight glitch when the rice cooker would not turn on, so I went to the neighbor's, AKA my daughter and son-in-law's RV and borrowed their rice cooker. Toni...

How we spent the first weekend in September

Image
The weekend started with a half day of school for the kids. While they were off to higher learning, I ran off to look at a class C rundown camper that someone had on Facebook. Do I need this? No. I am just always thinking of creative outlets that I have no business thinking about. To say it was in rough shape is an understatement. Really all that is left is the shell and the wheels. My daughter's uncle-in-law may be able to make a little home for himself out of it. He really wants out of the motel he is living in, and he and DH made an agreement to exchange parking space for help on all the work around here. I am staying out of that one. Nonetheless my son-in-law and his uncle are off to see the project vehicle. If he thinks he can make it livable before winter, he might take it and then DH will have man help. Saturday brought the first chance at a sleepover with a classmate after a 3 hour stretch of playing at her house. I have already blogged about my adventures while the child ...

The cool down

Image
No, I do not mean the weather as it shows no sign of cooling down at this time. It is the end of the third week of school for the kiddos. We had planned to fly back to Oklahoma tomorrow, however we are going to wait two weeks. I need time to emotionally cool off. I really thought the 100-acre property would be where we were going to land. After seeing it, I know we cannot. If DH almost falling off the porch weren't enough to say no the sunken jacuzzi bathtub in the master bath was. The drop-off behind the back porch was another incentive not to buy. If we were a bit younger and not bringing a wheelbarrow of dementia and fall risks with us, then the place was beautiful. The triple digit weather got to DH. The last day we were there he was ready to head back to the hot plains of Colorado. Once here he quickly wanted to go look at other properties in the triple digit state, and frankly so did I. I am not sure what it is that I do not care for about where I live. I do know it isn'...

Oh boy! Where were we?

Rain again and no letup in the tasks to be done. I went into work, and I was expecting an in-service on dementia not one on company value and employment happiness. It was interesting, I am glad I was paid for sitting through it. It was called "Happiness 101". The culture there is different from my other two jobs. I won't disclose in what way. The DRS is a bit pushy and hyper. She wasn't satisfied that I couldn't commit to the schedule she envisioned. Even after I explained that PRN means I check with you, or you check with me if you have needs either on a weekly basis or a daily basis. Her idea was for me to give her my availability and she would just fill me in where she needed me. I can see how that would benefit her, but my life is too unpredictable for that. One of my favorite weeds  We settled on a few days next week and hopefully that will work for both of us. At least until I find my planner. I left work and ran over to the other job to sign paperwork for ...
