Posting the day after... for sanity's sake!

Image
As I think of something creative to make for supper the little munchkins decide they want pizza.   OK, I think to myself, I have a tube of refrigerator croissants and sauce and cheese, this should be fine.   Roll the dough out of the tube, let the oldest spread the sauce, throw some cheese on and bake that puppy.   Ten or so minutes later it is ready and no one wants the cheese on it, only one wants to even think of trying it. And the other two want grilled cheese sandwiches… That was the theme of my whole day!   No one wanted whatever was being served or played or anything!   The day is over and the little ones fell asleep quite quickly.   This mama was too tired after a quick kitchen tidy up job to do anything other than crash into the pillow.   Of course that sound of my head hitting the pillow was heard by a QMap at my work who promptly called with a diabetic urgency.   Luckily it was the kind that was high instead of low. Fast forward to the next day… or today in my reality

Changes.... not for the wimpy!

This is the last month that my employer owns the building that we are in. They have sold the building to another company and away we go to a new adventure!  Not every employee will move on with the new employer and eventually we will know who is staying and who isn't. Co-workers ask if I am staying and like the rest I do not know. Some folks have already secured new jobs, afraid to be found in the number of "uninvited" employees.  Others are just waiting for the other shoe to drop and then there are a few like myself who have been in search of something to supplement the income anyway. Additional work to allow a more flexible income for "rainy" days. I originally checked into transcript proofreading, I am not so good at that! The author of the course offers an introduction course of seven days. That is a helpful approach when looking for something to do from home. She also has a general proofreading course, which I did invest in and I try to spend a

Birthday fun and those diaper pic's!

Good morning  I say to my co workers at 0130 in the morning... only to find out that my shift has been cancelled and I am the last to know about it! If there were stores open all night I would have gone grocery shopping.  In our area they have started closing at midnight instead of being open 24 hours a day.  One wonders if they closed because of a lack of customers at that time of night or an increase in the "homeless" population since our state legalized marijuana. Either way, this is good for me as it cuts down on impulse buys and on convenience shopping.  There are also no restaurants open either so no impulse eating ... well unless you count McDonald's and Burger King or an occasional Taco Bell that stays open until 1 or 2 am. There are clubs and bars where you can sit down but no coffee places where I might feel comfortable enough to stay a while that late at night.  So I begin to drive the 35 miles home along a two lane highway thinking about how my DH worries ab

Fudgesicles! updated 6-13-2017

Image
Today is the first day that I have made fudgesicles since last summer.. maybe longer :( I struggle looking through all of my old posts looking for the recipe I thought would be hidden in there. (That was June 7th). By June 9th all the popsicles were gone! But I did only make 24 popsicles and there were 4 kids to eat them in 48 hours... okay maybe we should limit their popsicles intake a bit. I cannot believe that I never posted any of the chocolate frozen goodies I have made! I also cannot believe I didn't take a single picture the process or the product! Well today I must try to do that and the ones I made are gone... down to the tummies of some very happy little girls :) But it is Saturday and we have a birthday party to go to so it might not be today. It should be today because it is only 7 am now and I have been awake for nearly two hours... but that was not really by choice. So first we are having "Easy French Toast Sticks". This is a good way to use up bread tha

Summer home school, wind, birthday presents.... naps

Image
Summer may not seem like the best time to home school, after all it is usually warm and plenty of folks take vacation during this time.  But here in Colorado the wind blows in what seems to be a constant manner so it doesn't always seem warm. So for our girls, school on those really windy days really just seems like a good way to be entertained!  And windy days can be good for several things, field trips, science projects like flying kites or watching just how the birds handle their flights on those days. Some days are very good for gathering chicken eggs while the hen house is being renovated.  The chickens are in their outside shelter so they have to lay their eggs "where ever". Little Miss received this very cute "egg" apron from "Auntie" for her birthday. She has wanted to go gather eggs every day since!  Today is the day she got to gather eggs. She thought there were just three eggs in this spot... but there were seven!  In the pocket

How to wash the hair on a four year old ... and live to tell the story

Image
Today is the day I have to wash Lily's hair.  It is a scary day as she HATES to have water put on her head, face or near her ears. We have tried many ways to do this all resulting in tears for hours, sometimes with shampoo remaining in the child's hair for days! In fact she becomes a reflection of a Tasmanian devil as we try to accomplish the needed task!  Most days I must chase her around the house and it just gets ugly. So if this post does not get finished today, and it may not, I can only hope that we both survive the event that is about to unfold. :) Good News! We both survived and I even was allowed to brush said four-year olds' hair! The icing on the cake is that she even had a bow in place for about three hours!!  Then all three girls got into the pool and that was the end of clean hair and pretty bows. All things said it was a good day and off to work I went.  It was supposed to be a short shift but ended up being seven hours instead of four.  Oh well be

Orange tree, raspberry plants and dirt.... wait I still have lemon tree seedlings to baby!

Image
Good morning folks!  Today I thought I would sleep in.. so I did until 0730.  That's when my darling grand-daughter arrived for her half day of babysitting. It is Saturday and I do have to work outside the home today. So it helps when the little one joins our two girls for a morning of "mommy can you not go today?".  This is always hard on the girls they really hate when I leave to go to work.  No matter how much I tell them the grandmas and grandpas need me, it does no good. In their little eyes they need me more.  It is true, but I am the worker bee in this hive. So I must go. My mom sent me a magnet that read "I owe, I owe, so off to work I go".  It is true but one day we will be debt free. The highlight of the morning has been watering the fruit trees and finding that FedEx arrived and dropped of my new plants!  My DH rushed the box in from outside, we unpacked it and took it all to the greenhouse for now. My order consists of 3 raspberry shrubs, one black

Wow it is June already!  I have not posted since February. I wish I could say I have been so busy making things and getting the garden plants ready... stuff like that but alas no. Life has just been go-go-go. So for the last 3 months or so we have been living in the rat race. Now I am really tired of it! We did get some garden things ready, potatoes are planted in a raised indoor planter and I have lemon tree sprouts that the girls planted as part or our science classes and they are doing quite well actually. Seriously?! I just went back to upload pictures from my computer... and to my surprise there aren't any uploaded from my phone yet! Grrrr...  We also have a goldfish named Ollie that moved in since my last post. Many things have changed in three months around here. Ollie has had three "tank-mates" over the span of his life so far. He has been the only one to handle living in a pickle jar though. His contributions to the houseplants have been very good for them. Oth
