Vow to get it done... sooner rather than later

Image
Today I resolved to get things in order, financially, stale snack cupboard, outgrown clothes, you name it I am resolved to take care of it before June 1st. The snack cupboard got added in by the youngest. She wanted to something to snack on and found some stale licorice. That started the cupboard cleaning... again. We did reorganize the pantry a while back only to discover, by being shown through a text, that it was an attempt at racist overtures. I am going to work on that. Not today though. I have been sorting paperwork for a week at least, at first it was to find missing letters, now that they have been found it is to locate all tax paperwork and get the financial house in order. Trying to find stuff and keep the house going at the same time can be overwhelming at the very least. All this while trying to un-school the girls and keep my sanity. The wild dogs in the house do not help my sanity, yet I feel bad thinking of sending them away. I can see how my younger sister ended up...

Week 1 with the youngest grand

Last week my daughter's house was gifted a case of strep. It ran the gauntlet of the family members except the youngest. This week I started caring for the youngest again, and she is a busy little thing! Now strep is headed through our house. My youngest is now suffering the effects of the flaming throat, fever, and the irritating dry cough. We went with the other family to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate the youngest turning 3.  Birthday kiddo B-Day kiddo's helper Who needs help  Today her cold has turned to pink eye, this does not excite me. Her throat symptoms have cleared a bit and the congestion is better for sure, but now the eye is involved. Hopefully a little intense monitoring and keeping it free of drainage will be all that is needed as we head into the weekend. Because the last place I want to go is the ER.  The morning started off strong for both girls, we walked three of the four dogs on leashes for PE warm up. The fourth dog came along without a leash. On the third lap around the yard the children were ready to take the dogs back inside. The two male dogs were good with that idea. The two female dogs could have gone further. Both girls needed drinks and a moment to rest. We are really out of shape! While they took a break, I took the paperwork to the school to withdraw both kiddos. I still need to return the chrome book to the school but that can wait till later today. We have to go to the library in town and return an overdue book so I can do it then. It was a peaceful start to our day. DH returned from town with the chicken feed so I will unload that and get it into the shed for later today. We played Yahtzee for about an hour, the youngest and I, we did not finish the game. There was quite a bit of wiggle worm activity. Those are the signals to stop, change or redirect when it c...

One out of five? Not ideal but work goes on

Image
When I finally had time to gather all the information on everyone's appointments it was obvious that I should never sign up for shifts without a planner in hand. I signed up for 5 shifts without the advice of a planner or calendar in hand. Much to my disappointment every shift except one had a conflict. I now have the guilty pleasure of telling the one who "pushed me" to pick up shifts, that we must change a few. I say this because the person who schedules things played on my sympathies for their nursing shortage. It turns out now that they are going to add Q maps to the schedule. They say they will always have a nurse on duty, but I wonder about that. Every place I have worked has eliminated nurses 24/7 and gone with the other option and a nurse available if needed. Time will tell. Onward, I did get a couple of other tasks put on the to do list. Goal setting and meal planning are my weak areas, and they did not make the list of tasks.  Last night's egg haul  I have ...
