A new sound..

  Today is getting warm already and it isn't even 9am. The nights are turning cooler and the geese have started heading south. I enjoy the coolness in the morning, but I know what it means, and since I scolded another blogger for using the "A" word so early in the season I will not use it here. At least not yet. I won't use the "F" word either, although the signs that summer is coming to an abrupt end are clear.  This morning there is a new sound that is heard in the city quite often, yet not so often out here on the plains. A siren. Since I cannot see anything, I am not sure if it is police or ambulance or fire department. Still, it is weird to hear so early on a Saturday. This too, is a sign of the times. The area is growing quite rapidly. Families are giving up their pastureland. A few families are moving in and "homesteading", but their plots of land are much smaller 30-80 acres vs the hundreds or thousands of acres that have been traditional i...

Another break in...

 Well, here it is August and we have been back from the new house about 4 weeks and of course someone decided they needed to break in again. We came back here on the 14th and before the 14th of this month someone broke into the standalone garage. Second time for that garage and one time for the house is really discouraging. Our neighbor here said she would watch the dogs and cats here so we can go back and secure the other house again. I have decided we are going to put that house back on the market. I have to go to work when we live there just to keep up with the utilities. That makes me uncomfortable as I have to leave the family home alone while I work.  We have never had problems where we live here and never with our house in the Springs. Not saying it can't happen, just saying it hasn't. So, for me I guess it is better to rid myself of the house that is too big anyway and live where I rather not live.
