Pediatric visits one day, geriatric the next

The first long trip in the motorhome was fun and enlightening. At the time it was occurring I was a nervous wreck. We were about 15 miles from home when the first challenge happened. Oh well, today is another day and the beginning of week 35 in our countdown to the next year. This week was filled with appointments! It was a week where, due to pressure from a supervisor I signed up for shifts blindly. Without a calendar in hand that is. Only one of the 5 shifts did not have a conflicting appointment, until I asked for refills on a child's medication. Then an opening in the pediatrician's schedule occurred on the one day I really had available to work. Luckily that day was a 4-hour shift, and the appointment was 3 hours after I should have been off. It didn't work that way. I ended up having to leave the shift without charting and then I was cancelled for my next shift. Friday was a trip to the VA for an evaluation. Did we have everything we needed? No, in our defense what w...

Happy Birthday Madison!

Our tiny terror is two!!! Happy Birthday to her! She is the youngest grandchild at this point. Probably will be for quite some time. Had to wish this kiddo a Happy Birthday by text as her parents did not answer the phones. That's okay I stopped by to see her tonight and I told her Happy Birthday then. It is Friday and the end of another week! I actually escaped for the whole day today. It was truly by mistake, but it happened. I headed in to take the kiddos to school since my appointment was at 0920 and it didn't make sense to have two of us make two separate trips in when one could do it all. Of course, that was before I realized that the youngest left her book bag at home. After dropping the young ones, I drove as fast as reasonable to get home and return in time for my appointment. That did not work quite as well as I had hoped, and it turns out that people are not very willing to share the road when heading south to Fort Carson. It forced me to call and let them know I wou...

One Long Day

Image
Today was a very long day. I knew it would be sort of long but not near as long as it turned out to be. Four appointments and a trip to the Bx and Commissary and we are now couch damaged at both ends. These dogs have separation anxiety or something. Maybe it's just real taste for furniture. But I do know after today they will never get to be left in the house without being kenneled again. That would be the stuffing from the arm of the couch on the opposite end of the previous damage. Plus they gnawed just a little more on the first end just to keep it even I'm sure. It was foolish to think we wouldn't be gone that long. There I go again, thinking. Unfortunately we were rushed again this morning trying to get everyone out the door to make appointments on time. Even when I give time checks and directions if everyone has to go, it is a mad rush to get out of the house and not let a dog escape in the process. If I had not been rushed I might have thought to put the dogs in th...
