 I keep thinking about the "Hannah house" that is the name my sister gave the farmhouse in Oklahoma that we were virtually smitten by. It was sad to see how different things were from my imagination. The right house does exist, I am pretty sure I will not recognize it when it appears. We plan to travel in September to look at 2 more possibilities. They are both on the same road, not very far from each other. It appears to be much less property with either one of them. One has 30 and the other has 57 acres of property. Both have their good points, funny though the one with more acres is far less expensive that the one with less acres.  Now on with the closeout of August! This past weekend I resolved to get this house in the best livable shape possible for the balance of our stay here. That for me, means having dressers for the girls in their rooms. Be careful what you ask for! When I went to get the results of the testing for the youngest kiddo, I thought I was prepared. To a degree, I was. Most of what was revealed just reinforced what we suspected. There were some things I did not expect. Severe vision problems, dysgraphia, severe math learning problems along with the ADHD and impulsivity issues. Now it is time to make more appointments with other specialists. At first it seemed surreal, most all of the daily challenges were covered, relief washed over me. The doctor couldn't print the report for me she stated it would arrive as an email later in the day. Trying to wrap my head around all of the information began to overwhelm me. Did she say what I thought she said? Is this child really facing those huge sounding hurdles? I checked my email more yesterday than I have all month. No report arrived. Not even this morning. Trying to be patient is not easy.  As the day progressed my emotions began to bubble.   It was a good day to try something else. So, I tried my hand at a different donut recipe. It was, eh, so-so, I mean as far as donuts go. I have definitely had better. The ones that I cut into the traditional donut shape cooked a little too long as they were very dark. It just seemed like they were missing something. All of them. I did cut some into a shape to fill with something and when they cool, I will try. I had lots of help during this little adventure. All in all, they were a success. The recipe made way more than we could or would eat. I will let you know how well they keep. In the future I will make a half batch. While I did look forward to the traditional shape, I found the puffy pillow shape to be my preference. Another detail I will pay closer attention to is having frostings and fillings ready before starting the dough. Summer may not seem like the best time to home school, after all it is usually warm and plenty of folks take vacation during this time.  But here in Colorado the wind blows in what seems to be a constant manner so it doesn't always seem warm. So for our girls, school on those really windy days really just seems like a good way to be entertained!  And windy days can be good for several things, field trips, science projects like flying kites or watching just how the birds handle their flights on those days. Some days are very good for gathering chicken eggs while the hen house is being renovated.  The chickens are in their outside shelter so they have to lay their eggs "where ever". Little Miss received this very cute "egg" apron from "Auntie" for her birthday. She has wanted to go gather eggs every day since!  Today is the day she got to gather eggs. She thought there were just three eggs in this spot... but there were seven!  In the pocket...

Whew! I made it through another work week! It seems like it gets longer and longer each time but it is still Saturday through Wednesday. It does get longer it is a fact. Because I started this post almost a week ago! And here or is Monday and I am still trying to make time to get a post on.  Homeschooling and working are a bit of a challenge at times. At least when trying to teach young children. I home schooled my older children but they were self motivated for the biggest part and wanted to get done as soon as they could. For the kids to get ready for counting we have started to let them help with processing the eggs. It involves counting them and putting the eggs in cartons. What is work for me is fun for a five-year old! Here she is with her work table.
