Try, try, try again.....and other assorted musings

This morning came early today... I have no real idea when either of the girls came crawling into our bed but it was still dark outside.  Yesterday my list was short but today it was even shorter.  I made up my mind early that I would clear one counter today and I managed to get that almost all the way done before school was over for the five year old.  For some people that may only take a few minutes to an hour but for me it was done between juggling three cats three kids and six months worth of clutter.. The other day I posted about the three year old that threw beans into my butter, cracked eggs on my floor and other fun things.... well most days she just walks past the counter reaching for whatever she can get and pulls it to the floor.  My plan today was to clear the longest counter in the kitchen and to move the microwave out of her reach.  Not only did I get this task done I also got the kitchen table cleared and one load of laundry done woo hoo me!!!  She also enjoys turning o

Working and kids, cats and chickens...which came first?

For most of us working came before pets, children or farm animals.  Now having all four things to manage each day I have found one small slip up and the rest of entities suffer.... If I leave the house and trust my to do list to my own memory.... watch out because half of what I set out to do will not get done. Add a kid or two to that and only one out of five things will get done. Case in point I left for town today to pick up the youngest grandchild so her mom could go to work.  As I left our house I went over my mental list... Pick up Grandkid Pay electric bill pay house phone bill stop at general store before leaving our "town" and purchase 0.50 Dr. Pepper take my new bank card and activate it at the bank ATM Pay my Target credit card at the store pick up one of their toilet tissue specials (buy two angel soft 36 roll packs for 14.99 and get a $10 Target gift card) check to see if they had a child size umbrella for the five year old to use to and from the bus sw

Spaghetti Letters; a favorite lunch around here and way cheaper than spaghetti-o's

Lunch at our house is very dull, Unless you love spaghetti letters! This is a favorite standby for those days when the bread is not finished baking or the little munchkins just won't eat anything else.  Super simple and reasonably inexpensive compared to a 15oz can of store bought spaghetti-O's. Here is the recipe: 1 package of alphabet noodles (0.43 @ WalMart) 1 can of Spaghetti sauce (0.69 @ commissary -$1.00 @ Wal-Mart) salt or chicken bullion Water Bring 3 cups of water to a boil, stir the whole package of alphabet noodles and salt or chicken bullion. cook 7 minutes (or if you have to run out to get a kid off the bus shut it off now and put a lid on the pan) Drain pasta, stir in the spaghetti sauce voila!!! Enough spaghetti letters for two or three small kids for several days. I buy the alphabet noodles located in the Hispanic section at Wal-Mart. This lunch idea costs about a $1.47 for enough to fill three pint size mason jars. That's a whole lot of spaghett
The first day of school has arrived with all the excitement a four year old can muster!! Drum roll please... she even remembered to go potty before running for the bus! So little miss and I were left to figure the morning out for ourselves.  I think we were both a little lost without the extra noise and the confusion that usually consumes most of the morning. That said tomorrow will come with a plan to get things done in a timely manner... I hope.  (this is even more sad than the other post, she is in kindergarten all day and loves it!) the four year old is now five and little miss is a preschool drop out!

Holidays and humbug!

Hello! Yes I am still alive....which makes me wonder what happens to abandoned blogs?

Life has been absolutely crazy for months!  We started the four year old in ABA therapy, registered the littlest for preschool, gave notice at my full time job and de-cluttered my kitchen cupboards.  Oh and added 5 more chickens to the brood. I have actually tried to get on the blog several times this past few months but keep getting an error message.  Yesterday I decided to be persistent and get through the error message and surprise I did! So now being in limbo as far as an outside job is concerned and tax season upon us I find myself further and further behind on the important stuff. Not to mention the 'olé homestead is in disaster mode for cleaning! The hot water pipe keeps breaking or separating whatever it is that it does to not provide hot water when needed. One car or another needs fixing, you name it and it has happened this past winter. So on to another year with hopes for a better summer... of course those plans for starting the garden indoors to be ready for the wa

Tiredness, depression, and pain....which causes which?

Good Morning! It is still morning here.... for a few minutes. I thought I would take the time to jot a topic sentence down so that when I get to work I can really try to expand on it. I know I do not have the answers to my own question but I do know I am experiencing all of the listed items.  People who know me just think I keep going all day and all night and for the most part I do.  Not by primary choice but definitely secondary choice. Meaning that having decided to take on more debt and more children I am forced to keep going.... That makes me tired !  But I wouldn't trade my life for anyone else's.  I think as a parent I fall into the "helicopter" parent I hover too much and need to back off.  I do get depressed when I think about all the debt I am in and all of my own doing.  That in turn makes my pain seem even more intense than what it may actually be, and worrying about debt makes me tired... so maybe the only problem is my debt... On to more fun things!!
