Mish mash and other musings...

After a wildly weird weekend and missing church on Sunday, I have started the weekly bill paying list. We had discussed taking out a loan to pay off a few things and then build a garage, and although that is still on the table, we plan to wait a bit longer. We may be able to self-finance and still get it done in this lifetime.  lucky lane deer  Looking at the list of things that are paid each month, we made a decision to wipe the slate clean. During the calling of each active credit card, we overlooked one that somehow had a balance that we did not know about. After researching the purchase made in January, we decided it might be fraud. That being taken care of marked the end of the week. The adventures that happened at the beginning of the week were pretty chaotic as well. Sunday was a bust with missing church and having the fun of the smoke alarms all night. We were going to deliver homemade get-well cards to the favorite mom in my daughter's neighborhood. I also had a...

Ramblings of change for the new year

As I type this entry into the blog, the cream churns in the mixer. Butter is in the making. I recall some years ago, a small one throwing black beans into the mixer as the cream was being churned. That should have been a sign, lol she has been mischievous ever since! Her sense of humor is as vibrant as her fits of anger. She is 10 now, her mental age is about 8, her emotional age about 5 or 6. I will never forget the words of the therapists on our first visit last March, in unison they looked at each other and said "FASD", not so much to me, but to each other. I was bewildered. The acronym did not ring any bells. I looked at the two as if they had just landed on Earth from, perhaps, Mars? I asked, what does that even mean? As soon as I had, I had wished I hadn't. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder. Yes, now the acronym popped back in my head. I had heard of this, but only bits and pieces, I didn't know of any cases. Well, at least I hadn't. Working with the current ...

Tuesday is the most important day .....

For some reason I make appointments for myself and something comes up and I don't get to keep the appointment for whatever reason. Tomorrow I had a scheduled appointment and poor DH just melted down insisting that he had told me of the most important meeting ever for weeks and I needed to be there. So in order to keep the peace the appointment has been changed. Going out with friends is not a regular activity for me. So when I was afforded the opportunity to go the a real restaurant I jumped on it! Of course in the middle of meal is when I received the desperate call requesting my presence at the "important" meeting that I have no memory of being told about. Enough whining for this evening. Wait, no it isn't my cell phone was acting wacky all weekend and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. So back to the phone store today to get it "fixed". It works again, who knows for how long but at least I was able to get some messages today. I enjoyed...

180's and preschoolers

I have neglected this blog for a bit...not really on purpose it just seems that the hurrier I go the behinder I get! Between working full time and trying to share babysitting with my adult daughter there is very little time for anything else. I can't beat myself up over it because then there wouldn't be anybody to do the dishes! A sad but true commentary on the reality of my life! But change can start with me... We had a follow up appointment with the "autism" doctor and got a diagnosis...and some medication.   I thought I was going crazy this last month. Dear 4 year old was out of control 45 minutes of every hour while awake and waking at weird hours wanting to eat or watch a movie or whatever.  The only time it seemed she had any calmness about her was when we were traveling... odd in my opinion for a kid with autism. Using the cell phone I was able to video some of her meltdowns to share with her doctor.  Pretty much I was to the point that one of us leav...
