More of June

When last we met the MH was back home in the yard making it quite the yard ornament. It remains where it was dropped. That did not deter us from making an impromptu visit to Oklahoma. Our neighbor was kind enough to mind the zoo while we were gone. This left us free to visit for the weekend and DH could look at the 160 acres that had been calling him.

We arrived in Yukon, Oklahoma after following google to the city hall in Oklahoma City. DH should get a better navigator. Not sure how a 10-hour drive turns into two days for us, but it does every time. We checked into a hotel room and DH watched the kiddos in the pool area while I played pack-mule and unloaded the party van.

It was a short night, and I did not take any pictures while they had fun in the pool. Most of the way down to this point had been thunderstorms and tornado warnings. It was nice to wake up to sunny skies and get moving.

We arrived at my sister's place in the afternoon that day. The next morning, she took us to look at properties that we had not seen online. We also made arrangements to see the 160 acres. We immediately fell in love with a 15-acre property that had two double wide homes on it and tons of other nice features. We were smitten and quickly agreed to the price.

When got back to my sister's place my BIL went through the roof over the price. Tried talking us out of it and called the seller and told her it was way too much. We didn't get very far before we discovered a problem with our van. However, we continued on and made it back to Yukon, Oklahoma where we stayed another night.

We left the next morning and did not notice any problems with the van. About two hours into the trip, I noticed a high whining noise, it was dismissed by DH, so we continued until time to get gas. As we pulled into the station, I noticed the van was not in gear. Leaving the station, it was obvious we were in trouble. We continued on until we could get off the freeway and we stopped at a campground where DH decided that he had put too much transmission fluid into the transmission. Now to get it out and hope for the best.

Eventually a good Samaritan came to our rescue. He was a mobile mechanic, and he had the tranny pulled, rebuilt, and reinstalled in less that 48 hours. He was super fair in pricing and true to his word.

3 years after buying we figured out the bed

We finally were forced to stay in an old motel and slow down for a few days. We spent time thinking about the property that had intrigued us and many other things. We have had the party van for 4 years this July, finally we were able to get the queen size bed in the back of the van to be just that... a bed.

Back home we started rethinking living in a mobile home, double wide or not, and decided against the property. It is still beautiful in my mind and yes, I probably could live there. But the price was too high for what we would be getting and not be able to be financed. The following week we were on the search again. Even though I had made up my mind that I could just stay put and be happy in Colorado...

even my dishes think so

This time we found a place that make DH very happy, and I think it we be a good place to call home for a while. Meanwhile we try to work through all the details and curveballs that keep coming our way. You are now caught up to Thursday June 15th... stay tuned for more drama :)
