Only one week left of June

One week left and still so many things on the schedule. Today we picked up the items that DH purchased at the auction. The kids really enjoyed the gator-type vehicle that he purchased. They each got to drive it around the yard. They both did a surprisingly good job for the first time on such a vehicle. The weather today was especially nice, not too hot and not too cold.

The baby goose is getting her feathers in quite nicely and will soon be ready to release to a group of her own kind. In the wild she would remain with her parents for more than a year. She may be able to find a flock and fit right in if she can fly and join them sooner rather than later.

I had to cancel two appointments for, today to accommodate the vehicle pick up and the new teen's mission to adopt a reptile. Mission accomplished after four choice changes in the store. Instead of a Pac-Man frog, or an Anole, or a Bahama Anole, she came home with a Leopard Gecko. Hoping I got the reptile names correct, please forgive me if I did not.

Did I want a reptile? No, but not as much as I did not want a snake. We have appointments for tomorrow afternoon, and I have to make other appointment arrangements soon. I did promise the teen (old version) that I would take her to a bookstore also. Going to a bookstore is dangerous for me, that is one place where spending money does not bother me as much. We still need to squeeze in a party for the teen (new version) for her and two friends. She does not do big crowds. In fact, prior to the teen years, we never did parties that included anyone other than family and maybe one other kid or two but only ones of my friends.

This is not new to these two kiddos, my older kids did not get parties either. Family get togethers were plenty for us. But somewhere along the way I fell into the trap of big parties for the kiddos, and I am really trying to work my way out of that mess.

It is now Friday and almost the end of June. Last night we lost a baby duck. Not sure what got her, but it wasn't pretty. Tonight, all yard birds are locked in their house and the cats and dogs are inside the people house.

Saturday morning brought another duckling loss. I have done all that I can to shore up the defenses around the coop. More lights were added. The gosling and the last duckling are in with the teenage ducks, and they are not happy about the addition of a goose and her duckling sister.

It is now Sunday afternoon, and I am going to post this today. We lost the mama duck sometime during the last 24 hours. I went to change the water in their pools and found her. I am thinking I need to just say goodbye to my yard birds and work on decluttering. For whatever reason I am losing them, and it is better for them to perhaps be on other properties for their well-being.

Not totally set that this is best, just pondering it a bit harder than I was.

Good day for now, much to do this afternoon.
