time to work on it...

Today should have been a day to work on things here at the house... but it wasn't. We went to the zoo. It was hot! too hot for even the animals to come out of their shelters.  We were able to see a few animals but overall, the majority were not visible.

somewhere is a picture of these two much younger

here is the oldest in the stone kangaroo pouch

watch out for the bears

There was a baby bison

some humans

not sure what these were

or these

these were lions

It was hot! Also, the oldest teen started to have an allergic reaction to something, so we left and headed home. DH had a small problem with a car, and the youngest bio-DD was able to go help him get home safely. Once we were home the oldest bio-DD called to ask if I could help them get to Michigan to see their dad as he is not doing well right now.

They will head out tomorrow and I guess keep me posted. They are having a hard time with going and I understand. I just got off the phone with the oldest DD and she is really struggling with this trip overall.  She is the traveling kiddo, and she feels that perhaps because they do travel and she has that freedom, that she is expected to drop what she is doing and run quickly to the aid of one in "need". Technically she is doing just that although, there is no plan to stay long term. She is feeling like this is a "farewell" trip. She is expecting grandchild #2 in August, and the family does not yet know where they will be stationed. Her overall plan is to be there for the birth of her grandson no matter where they are stationed. Her son has been told that there are two options for the platoons left in the company and they are Hawaii or Alaska. this is why she feels this is a farewell visit. She will not be able to visit again if they are stationed in either place. Financially it will be impossible to do so. There are a lot of things for them to consider in this, renting in either of these two places, can they stay with the family if they get base housing, taking their fifth wheel to either location, these sorts of details are what she is concerned with.

This isn't to make light of their loved one's condition. She just cannot be in two places at the same time. The girls made it to Iowa last evening. They had information to share but because I was in the car with the tween and teens they did not share.
