Five days of school closure ... I love this!
It is the evening of the fourth day of school closures. Surprise! I received a text that there will be no school tomorrow either! I could deal with this on a regular basis if I could get the girls to go to school. Truthfully, I am pretty much fine with them not attending public school and doing free schooling. Or unschooling as others have called it. As long as they have the basics and the desire to learn along the way. I quite often miss my alone time though. That would happen no matter what even if they were in school. Because my time is not my own. If I am here, I am expected to entertain. As long as the girls are here then I am expected to entertain them. As I sit here and type, I have an adult complaining that their toes are freezing. we have terra cotta tile floors over cement. This one has no socks on, no slippers and no desire to remedy that. I am not too concerned. But it is annoying to listen to when there is a solution that can be had easily enough.
Also, it is hard to type one's thoughts while another is sitting and talking to themself and answering and even laughing at their own answers AND making sarcastic remarks about those answers!! I do not need to work in real life as I currently run an institution for the... I think I could qualify for assisted living funding for dementia. I think with that I will close and go to bed myself. But like someone's wife, I will return!
It is the next evening and there has been a bit of a blowout here at the house. It seems that doing laundry in the morning is more challenging for others, but them doing laundry in the evening becomes a challenge for me because I cannot put the cats out at night just yet and they cannot stay in the laundry area while the machines are running because it gets way too hot and they cannot run the house because of the dogs and the kids with terrible allergies.
Anyway, I was busy looking for a tiny screwdriver because the batteries in my scale quit, when there was a damsel in distress scream, or maybe a 2-year-old got loose in the house, but I digress. The laundry had already been put in, and the room must have been quite hot as 3 cats pounced on the houseguest in an attempt to get out of the area. Once the screaming stopped there were frantic requests to do something with the cats. I reminded the screamer that I had stated no laundry at night because of the disruption to the cats. And I left her to fend for herself, meanwhile the youngest came downstairs and I asked her to assist with the cats. She put them in the game room and the other did laundry and put stuff into the dryer. I forgot to tell her not to shut the door because of the moisture that would build up from the dryer, I also forgot to mention that you have to make sure the vent tubing is connected to the outside vent tube. It was not. I decided since the cats were not in there it would be a good time to scoop litter boxes. The humidity was so intense that moisture was dripping from the ceiling. Lesson learned. I hope.
Fast forward it is now the 6th of February and so much has happened! In fact, too much for this post. So I will close for now and start again tomorrow on another post.
I kind of wish I hadn't because there was steam dripping from the ceiling. The tile floor was wet with humidity. I scooped the boxes and turned the dryer off. It had been going for an hour and a half at that time, I thought surely the stuff had to be dry. When I checked the dryer, it was so full that I decided to put it on 30 minutes timed dry as there was the likelihood that it was not dry. I left the door open and hoped the place would dry out a bit. When the dryer stopped, I texted the very offended houseguest and suggested she come get her things.
