Easter Weekend and the weekend before
It is Easter weekend already. The weather is a bit gloomy and cold. I moved the turkeys out to the chicken house last week while the weather was very warm, hitting the 70's. Of course, the next day the temps started to drop. I didn't give in and return them to the house. They are adjusting to the henhouse and eventually they will be outside when the other birds are out. While we do not have any huge plans for the holiday I do plan to reflect and learn the importance of this holiday and what it means.
Last weekend we visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. That was interesting and surprisingly all three asthmatic kids made it all the way across the sand field to the first dune! So did the author!!!
A good time was had by all! I would do it again and try to go further into the dunes if there were no kids to be worried about. After we left the dunes, we went to San Luis which is known as the first town in Colorado according to the sign in town park. There we visited the Shrine of the Stations of the Cross.
It was quite the climb to the top! I don't think the stations need any comment so there isn't any. Last year we visited the Stations of the Cross in Groom, Texas. It was nice to see another shrine. If climbing is a challenge, go to the one in Texas. Level, paved ground to walk on.
The weather is the reason we are not going anywhere this weekend. Just too cold. The travelers have visited two more parks this past week. We were not able to go as the requirement to be in school interfered. I do want to take the kids to the Sand Creek Massacre and the Ludlow Massacre as they are important historic sites here. I made sure my older kids visited the sites when they were younger... it paid off they have not been involved in any massacres since visiting.
That said it is time to close this post and wait for Easter morning to arrive
