We both lived!

Yay! Both baby and Gramma survived a half day of babysitting! Albeit was a long morning, we made it! All the way past lunchtime and I also made a trip to the store and a drive through to get drinks. Baby did not really let me do much but change her and her nap was all of 10 minutes long, it was still a success!

After Breakfast she played with the girls in their room. Each time I peeked in to make sure they were okay she scowled at me. So I just left well enough alone. Once she started whining a lot I picked her and put her in the sling and pulled it snug. She then fell asleep.
This was a very short nap!
10 minutes, I kid not!

It was close to lunch time and the other kids were playing at the table so she joined in.
First she laid claim to the pencils...it helps if you stand in the bucket so no one can take any

Then just in case they put you in this thing put some of the pencils in there for later.

More is better


Now to play at the table...

Now that was the end of our time at the house. We got in the car and headed to Auntie by way of a store and a drive-through. Baby did get a good nap.

By the time we dropped her off the snow was falling in big fluffy flakes! Almost a good springtime snow! Maybe the groundhog was wrong...
By the time we got back out east it was getting a bit dark. The Chickens needed tending and the snow had stayed pretty much in town. Not a good thing for the dry plains. Spring isn't quite here, maybe there is hope...

It is Friday and I am still recouperating from that one day! Okay and last night. The 7 year-old spent the night so her parents could go out for their anniversary. We went to bed about 11pm and they were up by 0400.

It left this pretty snow structure this morning.

The chickens are up and fed and so are the kiddos and it is time to start our work for the day.
A bird in the bush... can you find it?

 Sometimes when you think you have it all under control you realize you were wrong. Today the replacement bed for SIL was delivered. Any other day the whole household would have been up and about. Not today though, it is like they knew the delivery would be very early. Luckily the guys that dropped it off had it assembled and ready to go. They brought it through the front door and set it on its side in the living room. Of course, when DH got up, he insisted that I let him move it around and move the other bed out of her room all the good stuff. He also decided that he had to go somewhere.  The beds have been moved and all is where it should be, sort of. DH is still out somewhere. I bought her a new mattress and when I was calculating the height for her, I decided a 6-inch mattress might be best. Now that I have taken it out of the package it has to expand for 3 days. It's the last Monday!

It is the last Monday that I have to get up and go to this particular job and I overslept. Good thing my boss doesn't keep too many tabs on me. I'll be there by 0800 I suppose. Should go earlier as I have lots to do. Three days isn't much to get 39 care plans updated, and go through to make sure charts have what they need for state. Good thing he doesn't check his mailbox very often either. Otherwise he would have found my resignation letter 3 weeks ago, almost 4 now. It's all good.  I can feel the anxiety building in me knowing I am two days away from "unemployed". I did get some really good news! The grape-vine is saying that my replacement has been named and it is a nurse I absolutely adore! She will be an excellent leader! So for once I hope the grape-vine is right!!! It would make the transition so much better for the residents and the staff that remains. Dh wasn't answering his phone today so I left work to go get the kids from school and w...

The contents of this post are from early February. I was going to delete but thought more about it and decided to share. Sorry the pic's are sideways. As I sit at the table and look across to the counter in the middle of the room some call an Island, i bask in the silence that is now. Soon the island will be cluttered with items needed to make lunches and chaos will fill the silence as the house gets moving and kids get ready for school. There's only a few minutes until everyone else starts getting up. Today is hippotherapy for the youngest. The wind is howling right now so they may cancel it if it's too cold for the old horses they don't go out. It's too cold for this old horse! For 3 days we've been able to go outside without coats or sweaters or jackets. Yesterday the storm clouds brewed like they were going to dump an ocean in the yard I ran outside and grabbed seven batts of insulation and took them to the basement to save them from the rain. By...
