Assessment day is here!

The big day arrived with SIL staying up ALL. NIGHT. LONG. I am truly exhausted and ready for an early night. That probably won't happen as the youngest just asked for a shower... someone get a calendar and mark the date down!!! Also, sundowners' is in full swing, and every task must be talked through in detail one step at a time.

She just came from the brushing her teeth task and does not have her toothbrush case anymore. Hello trashcan? This is why she no longer gets sonic heads, six in one week, $49 plus tax. Nope, not happening again. Dollar tree has LOTS of toothbrushes with cases for a $1.25.

The day ended with me hiding all the pots and pans in the oven and going to bed. I was so exhausted from the all-nighter that I just couldn't stay up any longer. Especially since today is babysitting day and they should be here any minute. The stress of an assessment sent SIL to dementia land early and included an extra heavy dose of sundowners to go with it. You can add to that an injury to DH while helping the kids, does not allow him to lift SIL for repositioning or just helping into bed. I don't normally ask for help with bedtime routine anyway, but the dramatics were something to watch.

She is still pacing aimlessly and asking repetitive non-sense questions this morning. New day, nothing new. The youngest is having a meltdown day.  Good thing the baby is here to distract her from driving me crazier than I am.

Of course with bubble solution over carpet...

Then again after all the other things on my carpet, what is a little soap?

On to the rest of my day and how to keep SIL entertained and out of stuff. She needs a busy box. The problem is that her activity of choice is to run water and watch it run... wherever it may happen to run to. Typical for a toddler and others.

Now we are back to standing in the personal space of others. This is annoying at best for me. There comes a time in life when just expect others to be able to entertain themselves in order for you to get things done. I best come up with a busy box for her! We did baskets of washcloths for a time, but she gets bored with that too easily.

Today we wait for the facility to call with the monthly rate for her care and also to see if they can waver her in. Their age limit is 65. She is 62. There is a good chance they will not accept her. Which means we go with the original facility, same price point and half of the room she has here. Part of me is feeling this is the better choice in the long run, but I know the room size of the second place is a better convincing factor when she is closer to normal. Not sure when she will be back in that frame of mind again.

Okay, lunch is done for SIL, she will need a snack as breakfast was at 0715, lunch at 1015 and it is only 1130 and she is looking for something to do/eat/be, not sure exactly what, but something. Time to get on with the day!
