Eyes all done

 It was a much anticipated day at our house. Surgery day... It happens way too often for way too many occupants! Today was the youngest for her eyes.


It started out early with a bit of excitement. But that quickly drained the closer we got to the hospital.  Then when we arrived into pre-op. It was gone!

I felt bad for her it was taking so long to get on with it, but we were dealing with a military hospital not a civilian one. Time and money are not treated the same. Care given is excellent! There just isn't the same urgency as their counterparts.

This is not a bad thing! Just a hard thing when you are little and nervous. All in all we were only away from home for about 7 hours.

And one of us got a nap! Here is a hint... It wasn't me. At least the roads were better this morning and by the time we left the hospital the weather was beautiful. We came home and tried real hard to follow the doctors orders to be still... okay I tried real hard.
The moon was still in the sky as we headed to the hospital.

The roads were so much better!
Okay there a few places were I had to hug the side of the road to avoid patchy ice.
The moon is out again.
 

And tonight this momma's girl is home safe and happy and with straighter eyes!

 Sometimes when you think you have it all under control you realize you were wrong. Today the replacement bed for SIL was delivered. Any other day the whole household would have been up and about. Not today though, it is like they knew the delivery would be very early. Luckily the guys that dropped it off had it assembled and ready to go. They brought it through the front door and set it on its side in the living room. Of course, when DH got up, he insisted that I let him move it around and move the other bed out of her room all the good stuff. He also decided that he had to go somewhere.  The beds have been moved and all is where it should be, sort of. DH is still out somewhere. I bought her a new mattress and when I was calculating the height for her, I decided a 6-inch mattress might be best. Now that I have taken it out of the package it has to expand for 3 days. It's the last Monday!

It is the last Monday that I have to get up and go to this particular job and I overslept. Good thing my boss doesn't keep too many tabs on me. I'll be there by 0800 I suppose. Should go earlier as I have lots to do. Three days isn't much to get 39 care plans updated, and go through to make sure charts have what they need for state. Good thing he doesn't check his mailbox very often either. Otherwise he would have found my resignation letter 3 weeks ago, almost 4 now. It's all good.  I can feel the anxiety building in me knowing I am two days away from "unemployed". I did get some really good news! The grape-vine is saying that my replacement has been named and it is a nurse I absolutely adore! She will be an excellent leader! So for once I hope the grape-vine is right!!! morning calm

The contents of this post are from early February. I was going to delete but thought more about it and decided to share. Sorry the pic's are sideways. As I sit at the table and look across to the counter in the middle of the room some call an Island, i bask in the silence that is now. Soon the island will be cluttered with items needed to make lunches and chaos will fill the silence as the house gets moving and kids get ready for school. There's only a few minutes until everyone else starts getting up. Today is hippotherapy for the youngest. The wind is howling right now so they may cancel it if it's too cold for the old horses they don't go out. It's too cold for this old horse! For 3 days we've been able to go outside without coats or sweaters or jackets. Yesterday the storm clouds brewed like they were going to dump an ocean in the yard I ran outside and grabbed seven batts of insulation and took them to the basement to save them from the rain. By...
